HOMESCHOOL ART CLASSES
2nd Thursday of each month from 10:30 – 11:45 AM or 1 – 2:15 PM
Ages 5 years and older
$5 per class Members, $8 per class Non-Members

Students will be led through the galleries examining works of art on a student level. From gallery inspiration, students will then create artwork of their own. Different media will be used each month for experimentation. Pre-registration required.

PINT SIZE PICASSOS
2nd and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 1 – 2 PM OR
2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 1 – 2 PM
3 – 5 years with accompanying adult
$12 Members, $18 Non-Members, Adults free
This is an art experience your child will love. Hear stories, play games and get messy with all sorts of art materials. Price includes both Tuesdays or both Wednesdays. New activities each month. Pre-registration required.

Create 3-D art using clay, wood and recycled materials. Clay will be glazed and fired.

BOOK ARTS

Paint, stamp and collage covers for several books. Choose your favorites to turn into two origami journals. Use your leftovers for bookmarks!

CELEBRATE!

February is Black History month and the Hickory Museum of Art will offer this class to young artists who want to make a collage like Romare Bearden, paint a fun colorful picture on wood like Addie James, and create a print in the style of Jacob Lawrence. Come learn a bit of history while enjoying art-making too.

VALENTINE WORKSHOP
Monday, February 13, 3:30 – 5 PM
K – 3rd grade

Enjoy Valentine fun as we decorate a cookie card by piping icing and using candy hearts. We’ll also make other valentine crafts to give to loved ones using your own creativity!

DR. SEUSS WORKSHOP
Monday, March 5, 3:30 – 5 PM, K – 2nd grade

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday by creating art from some of his popular books. Make painted fish, create your own character for a book, and several other book-related art activities.

YOUNG REMBRANDTS

2nd – 6th grade

Love to draw? This is the class for you. Instructor Kate Worm will guide children through drawing skills using props such as animals, flowers and even the Museum’s collection.

WE NEED PUPPETS:
Hand Puppets! Our puppet stage in “Little Hands Big Hands” is in need of new puppets. We will take new or used puppets. We would even take small donations so we can purchase some.
SCHOLARSHIP MONEY AVAILABLE FOR CLASSES
Thanks to the LB Lane Family Foundation and Kulynych Family Foundation, HMA has scholarships available for adults and children who normally can't afford to take classes. One student recipient stated, "The reason I want to attend the Facial Facades camp is because it would help me to achieve my future dream of becoming a beautician. I will get the start I need to begin my path into the world of beauty. One day, I may be able to help people who cannot afford expensive makeovers. I also hope this would be the beginning of some new friendships."
