Children are often eager to find ways in which they can get involved and make a difference in the lives of others. Here are some websites for specific areas in which students and teachers can get involved with newcomers and refugees at home and abroad.

This website provides information about a program that connects American middle schools, high schools and universities with students in Darfuri Refugee Camps. A sister school program is one of the highlights.

This website provides information about how local communities can welcome newcomers, refugees and immigrants. It describes how Americans can help and lists items that can be collected and sent to refugee families across American as part of a classroom service project.
http://www.cal.org/co/
The Cultural Orientation Resource Center provides free downloads and toolkits for refugee families. Useful for teachers to have at their fingertips for families whose English is not very good. The site provides a search bar to quickly find information sorted by culture.
